Ground HSS Tool Bits

Just a bunch of HSS tools I've been grinding. The photos make them look much worse than they actually are...really...I swear. The one on the left is a 1/2" chunk of HSS. I thought it would be fun to grind a big tool. I was wrong.

Mostly I've been playing around with different geometries and nose radius to see what the difference is. Haven't had the chance to use most of them yet. The three on the right are tools I ground last semester and they have all proven themselves in the field. Pretty cool to cut steel with steel.

On the far right is a radius tool with 1/8" on one end and 1/4" on the other end...diameter that is. Second from right is a threading tool that is ground for RH on one and and LH on the other.
